The red peacock cichlid is a commercially-bred cichlid, derived from Aulonocara stuartgranti, commonly known as the flavescent peacock or as Grant's peacock; the latter of which is named after Stuart M. Grant, who was an avid cichlid exporter. Red peacocks do not naturally occur in the wild, and can sometimes be intensified in color and renamed as a premium ruby red peacock cichlid depending.
